Eddie Choo Wen Yi is a multidisciplinary artist from Malaysia, based in Helsinki. They are currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts, Uniarts Helsinki. Eddie holds a Diploma in Painting from Dasein Academy of Art, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the Fine Art Department of Taipei National University of the Arts, as well as a second Bachelor of Fine Arts in Time & Space from the Academy of Fine Arts, Uniarts Helsinki. Eddie’s work explores personal and collective narratives through themes of heritage, displacement, and translation, engaging with cultural identities and social structures.

In 2023, Eddie was awarded the Young Artist Grant from the Finnish Art Society to support their artistic research project, Rewound Trading Legacies, which investigates connections between family histories and broader socio-economic frameworks. Their performance Monsoon Symphony was presented at the 36th São Paulo Bienal, supported by a travel grant from FRAME Contemporary Art Finland.

Eddie began their involvement with lumbung radio as an intern during documenta fifteen in 2022 and became a member of the Station of Commons collective before the event concluded. As an active member of both collectives, Eddie has coordinated projects such as the African Art Book Fair in Dakar (2024) and Miss Read Art Book Fair in Berlin (2023, 2024 and 2025). With Station of Commons, Eddie co-curated programs at the Miss Read Pre-Fair in 2023, 2024, and 2025, as well as at SWAB Barcelona 2025.

They contributed to the publication Waves: Radio as Collective Imagination, launched during Miss Read 2024, and wrote a collective text titled Station of Commons: A Conversation on Translocal Radio Practices in the publication Radio as Radical Education, published by Station of Commons, Helsinki 2024.

Most recently, Eddie contributed a collective text to Afrikadaa’s 2025 issue Politics of Sound #2: Les musiques qui réparent les corps et les récits (Music Repairing Bodies and Narratives).
