2014 Journey of Madline

August 2014

Apprehending that leaving behind a familiar place inevitably leads to a new voyage. The disorientation of streets, ports and alleys is similar to a river that drifts towards an endless ocean of uncertainties.

A voyage has two opposing points – the beginning and the end respectably. I suppose a voyage is just a fictitious space-time, the sceneries end when the traveller arrives. The number of sceneries dictates the number of junctions. The possibilities at the end of the route are vast.

In Journey of the Madline, I continue my voyage from the previous exhibition Diary of the Madline. The artworks are expressed using basic elements such as dots and lines. The random yet mechanical qualities of drawing convey the traces of my journey. The traveling lines and the impressed dots made up to the idea of an endless route. Madlines – being random yet direct, tirelessly travelling towards the other side.

The work divides between long-distance and shorter range using different media . The pencil drawings depict the longer journey, and the color drawings depict the short distance recording in the town. There are 14 long-distance journeys and 23 smaller town journeys recorded.

Exhibitied on This is not a poisoned apple, Kuandu Museum of FIne Arts, Taiwan.
