The South-Wanhua Private Madline was realized by organizing workshops with school classes in the Wanhua District of Taipei. I was hoping to learn more about the student’s daily experience in that part of the city. I did that by inviting non-local visitors to explore the cultural heritage sites of the given district with a tour guide and a customized Madline device.
By asking local children to draw a map of their way to school and letting them point out places that mattered to them, I wanted to raise the question of how we evaluate sites and locations, how experiences gain relevancy as soon as they’re validated using any means of documentation.

Wanda elementary school students’ Madline devices. The Madline devices were exhibited at the exhibition site.
