The beginning and the continuity of Madline
Madline is a series of unrestrained drawings that explores processes of movement and an alternative means of documentation. The project medium is a simple assembly of a pen and a string as a drawing device to create dots and lines on paper.
In 2013, the residency programme I took part in Lostgens’ Contemporary Art Space, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia inspired me to record my daily driving journeys. Then I further working on this project during my study in Taiwan.
The Madline series that evolved in Taiwan has expanded into a broader social intervention especially on a community basis, for example, I initiated workshops that encouraged community interaction and integration. This social transition gradually developed a form of ‘continuous movement’ by itself. Up to the time of writing, Madline is now not only personal ‘moving experiences’, it is also progressing towards an establishment of a society data collection.

The first draft was made in June 2013 during a residency at the Lostgens’ contemporary art space in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
