Ba Kuan Memorial

This artwork was purposely made for an exhibition project as part of the Xanadu Project II – A Place without Boundaries. The exhibition was located in the city district of Bali and Kuandu, only separated by Tamsui river that runs through Taipei and divides the city in half. In order to experience both locations one had to cross Kuandu bridge. For my artwork I created a fake memorial for imaginary people that, according to my fabricated historical record, tried to cross the river in ancient times. The idea rose from a need to have my own struggles acknowledged, both as an ‘invisible’ foreigner in Taiwan as well as an individual trying to cross boundaries.
